SUNY Oswego is dedicated to providing guidance, advice, advocacy and outreach services for our veteran and military student population, along with their spouses and dependents, to promote a successful transition to college life. Military students have a dedicated veteran and military services coordinator and a school certifying official who can help navigate campus policy, procedures and requirements related to those who have served.

Fast facts

  • SUNY Oswego awards up to 30 college credit for military experience through the Joint Services Transcript System.
  • Any full-time active duty servicemember stationed within New York state, as well as their dependents, are eligible for the resident tuition rate. Honorably discharged veterans, regardless of their state of residency, are also eligible for the resident tuition rate.
  • Any servicemember called to active duty during a semester is eligible for refund of tuition and fees.
  • The Lt. Col. Mike Waters, USAF (Ret.) '70 Scholarship is awarded annually to assist students needing financial assistance with preference given to veterans, particularly combat veterans.
