Paintings by Wendy Stein
Exhibition Dates: March 29 - May 1, 2019
Reception: Thursday, April 4, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Wendy Stein studied English and religion at Trinity College, Hartford, CT, and earned an M.A. in Communications from Newhouse at Syracuse University. She recently retired as Communications Director for Contact Community Services, Inc., a mental health organization, in Syracuse. Several years ago, she began studying acrylic painting with Scott Bennett, a local artist and technical consultant for Golden Artists Color. Through acrylic painting, Stein explores texture, color and the relationship between media and message. In addition to painting, Stein’s other media is writing – and the mode of doodling and note-taking inform her painting process – as she composes her work with fluid and confident marks. She begins with the blank canvas, and makes her initial marks, as she breaks her way into the page/the painting. Her work is expressionist in tone and approach.
