Paintings and Mixed Media
Exhibition Dates: October 26 - January 25, 2019
Reception: Friday, November 2, 5 - 7pm
Student Poet: Imani Simpson
Student Artist: Logan Turner

Mary Pierce is an adjunct instructor of art at SUNY Oswego; she is an artist, storyteller and cultural anthropologist. As a printmaker and
mixed media artist, she uses color and texture to narrate her stories. Her work is culturally curious and respectful of the balance of differences.

From her statement:
“It is my belief that we are all connected and are part of an intricate and breathtaking tapestry called life. Our only choice each moment is
whether to be part of the creating or part of the unraveling of that tapestry.
‘Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.
All things are bound together. All things connect. “

This series is sponsored by SCMA, Dean Julie Pretzat
The Downtown Artists Series is an opportunity for student poets, artists and musicians to reflect upon and react to the work on exhibit. New poems, music, and art will be created as one artist considers the work of another. These new collaborative works will be presented at the opening of each exhibition at Tyler ArtGallery @ Oswego State Downtown.
