Sustainability

SUNY Oswego is committed to being a leader in sustainability, improving the world environment and developing a deeper awareness of environmental and technological developments.

The Sustainability Office is dedicated to maintaining the campus-wide focus on our continuing efforts to develop students with the intellectual capability, skills and technology to become environmental stewards of the future.

Our office compiles a compendium of each years projects and initiatives to share our successes and experiences with the community. To view our yearbooks feel free to click here, or check out our Sustainability Projects page for more information.

Daylight Hour

Daylight Hour logoOn Friday, June 16, SUNY Oswego will again participate in Daylight Hour. The campus community is asked to turn off the lights from noon to 1 p.m. to demonstrate the availability of daylight and our impact on the electrical grid in a single hour.

Organized by the Building Energy Exchange, the campaign aims to bring awareness to the use of energy in office spaces and encourages minimizing electric lighting in favor of natural daylight. Among the 300 plus participants, at least 15 SUNY campuses will power down their lighting systems for Daylight Hour.

Through initiatives like this, the support of the administration and the actions of The Office of Sustainability, SUNY Oswego continues to promote and support sustainability initiatives across campus and the state of New York.

The Office of Sustainability invites you to use the hashtag #DaylightHour to post pictures of your participation. Thank you for your participation and your help to make our campus more sustainable.
