Committed to Caring

We focus on student needs in a variety of ways. Providing programs and services that support healthy choices, supporting students in transition, and fostering a community of mutual respect and integrity so that students can be successful. We work with students, faculty and staff to encourage students to actively engage in and contribute to the vitality that is our campus life.

What's The Student Emergency Fund?

The Office of Alumni & Development established a fund in March, 2020 for alumni to contribute funds to support students who faced unexpected situations and hardship. The fund was established in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The fund has helped students with transportation, past due utility bills and food insecurity.

For students facing an unexpected hardship or an emergency, please email deanofstudents@oswego.edu

    • Students who are ill and/or expect to be away from campus unexpectedly.
    • Students who have fallen behind academically, or need to explore medical leave of absence or withdrawal from college.

    • Students who just don’t know where to go or who to ask for help.

  • Educating students on substance use and supporting students who need help exploring the substance use of a friend or family member. We help reduce their personal risk when using substances, and connect students to local addiction services. We also provide educational opportunities/interventions when there are alleged violations of our student code of conduct.

  • Helping students develop an overall healthy lifestyle including personal well-being, sexual health and violence prevention, and helping students understand their rights and responsibilities in our community.

Students Helping Oz Peers (SHOP)

SHOP provides campus members with non-perishable foods, gently used clothing, and toiletries. This was a collaborative effort between students and areas on campus that recognized the growing need of food insecurity of our students. Please note that SHOP's regular hours are being suspended in order to ensure everyone's safety during the COVID-19 outbreak. Please refer to their pick-up form to request items that you may need during this time
