The Office of the President
November 11, 2019

Dear Members of our Campus Community,

As our nation celebrates Veterans Day today, and honors the selfless service of our veterans and active duty military, please take a moment to reflect on and appreciate those who have proudly worn the uniform of our nation.

We are proud of SUNY Oswego's community of veterans, military members and their families and of our intentional and wide coverage of support to ensure they are successful in attaining their educational and career goals. Recent inclusion in Military Times’ 2020 Best for Vets: Colleges rankings, and among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges for Veterans highlight SUNY Oswego’s dedication to providing services that reflect the unique needs of our veteran and military student population.

Just this past year, SUNY Oswego became a partner in Combat2Careers, an initiative honoring those who have served and sacrificed by helping student veterans make campus-to-career transitions through gainful and meaningful employment. And this week’s popular student spotlight will feature alumnus Kevin Coleman, who served 12 years active duty in the United States Marine Corps before enrolling in Oswego’s history program and earning his bachelor’s degree in 2018. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Oswego's Childhood Education program. Kevin and his fellow veterans enrich us all for the better with their battle-tested experiences and worldly perspectives.

Our sincere thanks to Kevin and to all our nation’s veterans and active duty military on this Veterans Day and throughout the year.
