The Office of the President
March 16, 2020

To all employees of SUNY Oswego,

As we continue to navigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the operations of the college and in our communities around the nation, SUNY Oswego is well aware of the need to protect the health and safety of our valued employees. Per Governor Cuomo's directive and in an effort to promote recommended social distancing, limit population density, and discourage group meetings and congregation on campus, all non-essential employees must work remotely from home through at least April 13, 2020. This is a vital measure and civic responsibility for each of us as we work together to mitigate the transmission of the virus.

To facilitate working remotely, non-essential employees must complete and submit the SUNY Oswego telecommuting application form before they begin working remotely.

If you are an Auxiliary Services employee, please check with your supervisor for guidance.

For all others, please follow these instructions:

  • Determine if you are an essential or non-essential employee. If you are unsure, please report to work tomorrow (Tuesday, March 17) as you normally would and check with your supervisor.
  • If you are a non-essential employee, complete the telecommuting application form as soon as possible to request working remotely.
  • Once you complete and submit your application, you can begin working remotely while you await approval.
  • If you are approved to work remotely, you will be expected to work your approved work day, and you will not need to charge personal or vacation time. Please refer to Sections IV and V of the Statewide Telecommuting Pilot Program regarding work hours and time off.

I want to express my deep gratitude to all members of our college community for your collective responsiveness to this worldwide pandemic. Your resilience and support to ensure that SUNY Oswego is successful in carrying out its mission, while protecting our students, faculty and staff, has been truly impressive and heartwarming.

Sincerely,

Deborah F. Stanley
President
