The Office of the President
June 14, 2018
Dear Members of the Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jerri Howland as interim vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management effective immediately. Howland succeeds Jerald Woolfolk, who recently departed SUNY Oswego to assume the role as president of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.

In this new post, Howland will provide continuing leadership to the division while the college outlines its plans to conduct a national search for our next vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Howland will continue to serve in her role as dean of students during this time.

Howland has served as the college associate vice president of Student Affairs and dean of students since July 2014, where she has effectively supervised several divisional units/departments in campus life (student involvement, intramurals and recreation, event management) and student conduct. She has also assisted greatly in enhancing student life programming and services on campus, with the goal of fostering increased student success. Howland serves as chair of the Behavioral Intervention Team; provides administrative support and problem solving for all students and families in crisis; manages college withdrawals and leave of absence requests; and was instrumental in the development of the I am Oz Diversity Speaker Series, Oz Leads, S.H.O.P. (student food pantry), and Oz Speaks.

Before joining Oswego, Howland served as dean of students, and assistant dean for campus life at Rhode Island School of Design. Her entire career has been dedicated to higher education in various student life, support and student development positions. She earned a Ph.D. in Student Affairs Administration and Research from the University of Iowa, her master of arts from Southeast Missouri State University, and bachelor of science from Frostburg State University.

We’re extremely fortunate to have someone like Jerri to be able to step into this vital interim vice president role. She brings a wealth of student life knowledge and experience to SUNY Oswego and is committed to student access, opportunity and success. She’s well respected on campus by colleagues and students, and will do a fantastic job leading the division during this time of transition.

Please join me in congratulating Jerri on this new role.

Regards,

Deborah F. Stanley
President
