Village Room Selection Quick Tips (PDF) Vacancy and Room Change Policy
All current students may participate in the Room Selection Process starting in the spring semester. This online process allows students to reserve their residence for the upcoming academic year.
All current first year students are required to live on-campus for next year. Please refer to the University Housing Policy for details. SUNY Oswego students must adhere to this policy.
Participation in Room Selection guarantees the student on-campus housing for the entire academic year AND, obligates the student to live on-campus for the full academic year. Students who are not required to live on-campus should only participate in Room Selection (Village Selection and Residence Hall Room Selection) if they are 100% sure they want to live on-campus for the entire upcoming academic year.
Who is eligible to live in the Village?
The Village townhouse community is for graduate students or upper-division students who have:
- Started at Oswego as a First Year student
- Earned at least 42 credits
- Lived on campus at Oswego for at least 3 regular academic semesters (including the current semester)
Step 1: Apply for Housing
Priority Sign Up • Oct. 5, 2022 - Nov. 18, 2022
Village Housing Application • Feb. 1 - 10, 2023
Complete the Village Housing Application, including accepting terms of the 2023-2024 Housing and Dining License through myhousing.oswego.edu.
- Read & sign the Housing and Dining License. This license is a binding agreement for the full academic year.
- Answer all application questions.
- Continue until you reach the "Thank You" page, then log out.
Step 2: Match Mates & Complete Agreements
Current Residents Only • Feb. 1 - 14, 2023
All Village Room Selection Participants • Feb. 16 - 23, 2023
Match housemates via myhousing.oswego.edu. Students requesting a mixed-gender townhouse must complete the Gender Inclusive Agreement at myhousing.oswego.edu.
Step 3: Select Room for 2023-2024
Choose from available space via myhousing.oswego.edu according to your lottery number/start time.
Be prepared! When signing up for a townhouse, each individual member of your group must be assigned to a specific bedroom.
Residence Life and Housing will assign students that complete the Village Housing Application, but do not select a room. Not selecting a room during Village Housing Selection does not release a student from the Housing and Dining License.
VILLAGE RESIDENT LOTTERY

Lottery Number/Start Time will be available after 4PM on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023
- The Village Resident Lottery is for current Village residents mutually matched with other current Village residents only.
VILLAGE GENERAL LOTTERY
Fully Matched Groups of 4 or 6 | Feb. 21, 2023 • 10AM - 10PM
Matched Groups of 5, 3, 2, or non-matched students | Feb. 22 - 23, 2023 • 10AM - 10PM
Lottery Number/Start Time will be available after 4PM on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023
- The Village General Lottery is for Village Room Selection participants that have completed the Village Housing Application and have accepted the terms of the Housing and Dining License.
