Traveling to Orientation

We are so excited for you to join us at New Student Orientation this summer!

SUNY Oswego is proud to have students join us from all over New York State, the country, and the globe. Attending an Orientation program is an important next step in your transition to SUNY Oswego, and required for all of our new and incoming students. We are here to help make travling to Orientation as easy as possible. 

This page outlines driving directions to campus, in addition to the public transportation options that will bring you to campus and our Orientation Express Bus.

New Student Orientation offers direct coach transportation to and from New York City to SUNY Oswego on select First Year Orientation program dates.

Please note: This service is only available to first year students and their guests. The $90 fee is per person and is in addition to the Orientation fee for both students and guests. 

Driving Directions

From the North
Take I-81 South to Route 104 (Exit 34). Follow 104 West through the city of Oswego to our campus.

From the East
Take I-90 (the New York State Thruway) West to Route 481 North (Exit 34A near Syracuse). Proceed north on 481 through Fulton to Route 104 (Bridge Street) in downtown Oswego. Make a left onto Route 104 and follow through Oswego to campus.

From the South
Take Route I-81 North to 481 North (Exit 16A in Syracuse). Proceed north on Route 481 through Fulton to Route 104 (Bridge Street) in downtown Oswego. Make a left onto Route 104 and follow through Oswego to campus.

From the West
Take I-90 (the New York State Thruway) east to Route 34 North (exit 40 in Weedsport). Take a left where the Thruway exit meets Route 34 and travel north to Route 104. Take a right onto Route 104 and follow to campus.

Public Transportation

By Bus

Visit Centro's website for its local and regional routes.

The William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center hosts bus service from Greyhound and Trailways, who both offer student discounts.

By Train

Amtrak also runs trains to the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center in Syracuse. Schedules, tickets and information can be accessed at www.amtrak.com or at 1.800.USA.RAIL (1.800.872.7245). Amtrak offers student fares and other discounts.

By Air

If you're considering flying in for a visit, you can consult the flight scheduler for Syracuse Hancock International Airport. At the airport, you can secure a rental car or utilize Centro bus service to reach Oswego.

The following airlines fly approximately 200 daily flights into Syracuse:

Select shuttle arrangements are available to students and guests traveling to New Student Orientation by way of public transportation.  Shuttle arrangements are only offered the evening prior to your scheduled Orientation program between the hours of 4 and 9 PM at the Walsh Regional Transportation Center (RTC) or the Syracuse Hancock International Airport.  Shuttle reservations must be made in advance of your Orientation program; due to limited seating, reservations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
