Parent & Guest Orientation

We understand the important role that family and support members play in the transition of a student to college.  As such, we offer parents, family members, and guests the chance to attend an Orientation program as well.

First year and transfer student guests attend a separate program that runs concurrent with their student's Orientation that is a mix of "guest only" sessions and programs that they attend with their student. In either case, attending Orientation allows parents, family, and guests the chance to:

  • Meet with members of the faculty, staff, and administration of SUNY Oswego.
  • Learn about academic expectations at the college.
  • Gain an understanding of campus policies and processes.
  • Find out about services on campus that can support their student's transition.
  • Get your questions answered and take care of important business while on campus.
  • Connect with other parents, family members, and support members.

We understand that all family members, including younger siblings, play a vital role in the transition of a college student. That said, our programs and their content are geared toward adult guests and transitioing college students. While younger siblings (12 or under) are welcome, we encourage you to consider alternate arrangements for young children.

Please note: Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guest over the age of 18, other than the new student, at all times.

There are additional lodging and dining fees associated with the Parent & Guest Orientation that are detailed during the reservation process, as well as on our website.
