Meave Gillen

Meave is the Director of the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program of Oswego County (RSVP), which is a branch within the Office of Business and Community Relations. In this role, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of RSVP. She oversees staff and more than 400 volunteers to achieve program goals while ensuring compliance and achievement with federal grant guidelines and regulations. She maintains and develops interagency communication with major funding sources, and attends and organizes community events to recruit volunteers. As well as research, catalog, and secure grant opportunities.

Prior to Meave’s position with RSVP, she worked as a Senior Congressional Caseworker for the United States House of Representatives. In this role she established and maintained the Oswego County Congressional Office for a member of Congress. She worked extensively with federal agencies on behalf of constituents to resolve various issues. She worked with local elected officials and stakeholders to ensure maximum government benefits. She was also responsible for scheduling and organizing as well as for the preparation of briefing memos for the member of Congress.

She worked as a Scheduler for a New York State Senator, where she was responsible for cataloging, evaluating, and responding to all scheduling requests, staffed the Senator at district governmental and political events and conduct follow-up, as well as prepare daily briefing memos for the Senators governmental and political meetings. Preceding her work in government, Meave worked for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District as an Inclusion Teacher for grades 3 and 5. She supervised and managed a 10 member teaching team to ensure compliance with State standards, was a member of the School Leadership Team and conduct weekly training classes for new personnel.

Education

Obtained a BS in General Education and Special Education from St. John Fisher College
