The Community Leadership Award recognizes a leader who is devoted to the community, participates in civic organizations by taking leadership roles, has had a demonstrated impact on the growth of the community, and has displayed real vision and motivated others to realize the vision. Eric Anthony Bresee is the consummate community leader.

Eric grew up in Hannibal NY with his parents, Lawrence and Julia. He achieved his BA in Psychology as well as an MS in Counseling and Psychological Services from SUNY Oswego before going on to obtain licensure in Mental Health Counseling.

Eric started his professional career with Oswego County Opportunities as a substitute resident counselor for people with developmental disabilities. From there he quickly moved into part time, then full time employment holding a position as a transitional living counselor before being elevated to the leadership roles of Sr. Counselor, Program Coordinator and eventually Program Director, overseeing many of OCO's program including Homeless Services, Services to Aid Families, Medicaid Service Coordination, the PATH, OPTIONS and Health Education. Eric obtained a credential as a Certified Community Action Professional while employed at OCO and was recognized for many achievements including Outstanding Employee, Outstanding Leader and the Amelia Whelahan Leadership Award. He was also recognized as one of Oswego County's top 40 under 40 young professionals.

Eric participated in many civic organizations including Rotary International, Young Professionals Voice, National Management Association and the Workforce Development Youth Council. He completed leadership training via the NYS Community Action Agency's, Emerging Leader Program and also is a graduate of Leadership Oswego County's "best class ever", class of 2006.

Eric joined the board of directors for Farnham Family Services and served for two years before taking over as Executive Director. Eric is an independent contractor for Integrative Counseling Services providing mental health counseling. He serves as President for the NYS Coalition for Homeless Youth, Board Treasurer for Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County, is a member of the Crown 30+ Skate League and a coach for the YMCA Crown 12U Skate League. Eric sits on multiple teams for the Oswego County Community Health and Poverty Reduction Task Force and represents Oswego County on the Association of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Professionals as well as the Central New York Alcohol and Drug Association. Eric lives in Scriba with his wife Amy, eight-year-old son Brayden and their dog Booey.
