Parking reminder for Hart/Funnelle lots

We hope the new semester is treating you well.

With the academic year starting, we wanted to remind you that the parking lots south of Hart and Funnelle halls are separated between student and employee parking. Since the start of classes, the campus has experienced an overflow problem due to employees parking in Resident Lot 9 -- the half closest to the residence hall -- which is reserved for students. Employee Lot 18 (the back half of that lot) is reserved for faculty and staff, except for the back two rows which are needed for commuter students.

Open Skate starts today for all members of campus community

The SUNY Oswego Skate Shop will kick off its recreational Open Skate sessions for the fall 2018 semester on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

The regular sessions, which take place at the Marano Campus Center arena, are scheduled as follows:

- Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m;
- Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.;
- Sundays from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Signups available for van driver training

SUNY Oswego policy requires student operators of the college-owned 12-passenger vans to be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and complete a driver training session. This includes students who have the responsibility of transporting persons in the vans for departmental purposes such as academic field trips, residence life programs, athletic contests and community service.

It is recommended, but not required, that faculty and staff complete the driver training prior to operating a 12-passenger van.

Blackboard Learn support sessions offered to faculty

CTS and Extended Learning have teamed up to begin offering a series of one-hour Blackboard Learn faculty support sessions this week. Two sessions will be held today, Sept. 6, with two additional sessions scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 26.  Additional details are listed on SUNY Oswego's Blackboard Faculty Workshop page -- (https://www.oswego.edu/blackboard/blackboard-learn-faculty-workshops).

Nominations open for faculty Chancellor's Awards

Each year the State University of New York recognizes outstanding faculty service, teaching, librarianship, scholarship and creative activity through the conferral of Chancellor's Awards for Excellence and the awards given for Distinguished Faculty ranks.

SUNY Oswego is authorized to submit up to four nominations for each of the following Chancellor's Awards:

STARTALK seeks reservations for Sept. 15 festival

Organizers of the STARTALK Mid-Autumn Festival, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in 242 Marano Campus Center, seek RSVPs for the Chinese cultural celebration.

Participants can learn more about Chinese culture, try seasonal foods and fruits, and play with the Chinese yoyo and Jian zi at the free program. RSVPs are requested to startalkcny@gmail.com by Sept. 14. 

Faculty "Drop-Ins" with President Stanley kick off this Wednesday, Sept. 12

President Stanley will host her first drop-in with faculty this Wednesday, September 12, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in the Chu Atrium, located in the Marano Campus Center. 

President Stanley hosts drop-in hours for SUNY Oswego faculty periodically throughout the acedemic year. Members of the faculty are invited to stop by and meet with her during this upcoming faculty drop-in.
