New virtual tour offered on Web, mobile devices

Through a partnership with YourCampus 360, the college now offers a virtual walking tour of the Oswego campus, making its grounds accessible to visitors anytime, anywhere from the Web or mobile devices.

The new feature at provides a virtual tour of Oswego’s 700-acre campus for those previewing a full visit later or unable to see the campus in person. The interactive tour also includes links to 360-degree views of selected locations, videos, photo galleries and the ability to contact or apply to SUNY Oswego.

Screen shot of 360 tour.“We find it increasingly important to showcase our campus to prospective students, parents and counselors using the Web as a primary source to identify potential colleges and universities for post-secondary education,” said Joseph Grant, vice president for student affairs and enrollment. “It helps to give a virtual feel and view of our college, whether you live in Syracuse, New York City or Hong Kong.”

Student tour guide Andrea Biedny, a senior broadcasting major, did the voiceover that users hear and appears as the on-screen avatar.

A New York-based startup launched in 2009, YourCampus360 equips colleges and universities across the country with virtual tours on Facebook, mobile (Android, iPhone and iPad) and college websites. Those visiting Oswego’s official Facebook fan page, can also access the tour.

“Now visitors from all over the world can get a valuable preview of Oswego’s incredible campus and vibrant student life on Lake Ontario from any location, at any time of day,” said Aubree Smith, marketing director of YourCampus360. “This is truly a campus worth showcasing.”
