College's new Village townhouses showcased at Aug. 19 community open house

The Village, SUNY Oswego’s new townhouse community, invites local residents to an open house featuring tours from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19.

View of The Village.Members of the campus and community are invited to see three types of apartments—six-person, four-person and handicapped-accessible—among the 68 units in a dozen townhouses just south of Glimmerglass Lagoon. Visitors can park free in the parking lot adjacent to The Village on Iroquois Trail.

The open house will provide self-guided tours of specific apartments, the community center building and the grounds surrounding the townhouses. Representatives of the college’s Office of Residence Life and Housing, which administers the community, as well as architects and builders, will be on hand to answer questions. Light refreshments will be available.

The Village will open with the fall 2010 semester to house 348 juniors and seniors as another option for the 4,300 students who live on campus. Five cross-campus task forces that included students were involved in developing features ranging from helping design the community to how to make it as green and sustainable as possible.
