Painter, graphic designer to display works

Two candidates for master’s degrees will display their artwork March 23 to April 14 in Tyler Art Gallery.

The Spring Master of Art Thesis Exhibition featuring the works of SUNY Oswego graduate students Michelle Bennett and David Stone will open with a free artists’ reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 23, at the gallery. Due to mature content, the exhibition is recommended for adults.

Bennett’s paintings and Stone’s graphic designs will hang in the gallery’s south wing, while “Generations III”—the college’s spring exhibition for master of arts teaching candidates—will occupy the north wing for the same dates.

Self-portrait painting by Michelle BennettA bachelor of fine arts graduate of SUNY Oswego, Bennett calls her nude studies “an investigation of my self through experiences that have made me the person I am today. My paintings represent my haunting past reoccurring in present day.”

Stone, a 2004 graduate of Syracuse University in computer art, has worked for a range of companies, from small businesses to large local ones such as Welch Allyn. In a third-person abstract for the exhibition, Stone wrote, “His design style is geometrically structured and his dynamic use of color, shape and negative space creates a clear and elegant aesthetic.”

Tyler Art Galley is open 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Admission is free, with donations appreciated. For more information, call 312-2112.
