College to host stargazing session

SUNY Oswego will host a spring “Stars over Oswego” telescope viewing event at 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the Romney Field Observatory.

This free event will allow the public an opportunity to view Mars, Saturn and the moon in real time through telescopes. A tour of the spring constellations also will be given. Telescopes include a classic six-inch refractor and a portable eight-inch reflector.

Rain dates would be at 9 p.m. on either Wednesday, April 5, or Thursday, April 6.

No reservations are required, but those interested in attending should call 312-2790 after 6 p.m. on April 4 (or on the rain dates) to see if the event has to be canceled due to cloud cover.

SUNY Oswego’s Astronomy Club helps host the session.

The observatory sits behind the SUNY Oswego commuter parking lot north of Romney Field House off Route 104.
