Students display graphic-design posters in 'Renter's Rights' exhibition

Oswego State Downtown will hold a reception for the graphic-design student artists behind “Renter’s Rights,” the venue’s latest exhibition, on Friday, Sept. 16.

The 15 students of Cynthia Clabough, SUNY Oswego professor and art department chair, will appear from 5 to 7 p.m. for a free public reception at Oswego State Downtown, the gallery and College Store extension at the corner of West First and Bridge streets in Oswego.

The thematic exhibition is open now through Oct. 1. Hours at Oswego State Downtown are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

“For this assignment, student graphic designers were asked to create a poster that would help inform students about their rights as renters or potential homeowners,” Clabough said. “The goal of the assignment was to inspire students to empower themselves. Students were given the freedom to address the poster from several different perspectives.”
