OsweGoConnect offers incentives for new members

OswegoConnect logoThe Oswego Alumni Association invites graduates to join an exclusive online community for SUNY Oswego alumni—OsweGoConnect.

OsweGoConnect offers the opportunity to update contact information, create an online class note, promote a business, search a huge job database and even get a free permanent e-mail address. This spring, the community offers an added incentive to join.

Everyone who is a registered member of OsweGoConnect by Friday, March 30, will have the chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the College BookStore, which can be used in person or online.

“Enthusiasm is growing for Oswego’s online community as we achieve a critical mass of participants who make joining an even more fruitful experience,” said Betsy Oberst, executive director of the Oswego Alumni Association. “Why not take advantage of our special spring drawing to sign on to OsweGoConnect and stay in touch with your classmates and your alma mater?”

Members of OsweGoConnect can check out a calendar of upcoming alumni events and register for them online, post updates and pictures about their career, family and interests; find products and services advertised by fellow alumni or promote their own product or service.

Participants will also benefit from alumni-to-alumni career mentoring and networking by posting a resume, reviewing jobs listed by Oswego alumni and access thousands of job postings from more than 300 other colleges and universities.

Finally, OsweGoConnect can also help alumni search for classmates and friends.

In July 2006, four Hart Hall friends, Ellen Feigen-Kiefer ‘75, Jeannine Morgan Grossman ‘76, Carol Ostrander LaFever ‘75 and Anita Wheeler Jebbett ‘76 were reunited after 30 years by using OsweGoConnect.

While three of the women lived in New York, one—Feigen-Kiefer—had moved around the country and overseas, residing in California since 1987. The group lost touch shortly after graduation and it was not until Feigen-Kiefer registered on OsweGoConnect that anyone was able to find her.

“Once we reconnected, it was only a matter of weeks before I had booked a flight to head to New York for the first time since leaving in 1976,” Feigen-Kiefer wrote.

Those interested in joining can find their security code to enter the community on the mailing label of the Oswego alumni magazine. The nine-digit number, beginning with 8, is located directly above the address. Those who no longer have a copy of your magazine, or alumni couples, can call the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations at 315-312-2258 or e-mail alumni@oswego.edu to get their individual identification numbers.
