Lakers advance to NCAA title game with 4-3 OT win

corner shotThe Oswego State men’s hockey team beat top-seeded St. Norbert’s 4-3 in overtime to advance to the NCAA national championship game on Sunday.

Oswego State senior captain Ryan Woodward scored the game-winning goal 3:51 into overtime to cap a thrilling back-and-forth contest. The NCAA title game at 4 p.m. Sunday in Superior, Wisc., will pit the Lakers against Middlebury.

The Lakers rallied to tie the game at 3-3 in the third period on the second of Tyler Lyon’s goals. Rich Zalewski had the other Oswego goal. Goalie Ryan Scott made 26 saves.

The NCAA Division III championship game, where the Lakers aim for their first-ever national title in a team sport, will be shown on CSTV.
