Free sessions to help contractors adopt energy-saving measures

The Office of Business and Community Relations will offer a pair of free presentations Oct. 6 aimed at helping area contractors, builders and developers harness energy-saving, smart techniques to better serve residential and commercial customers.

The Central New York Regional Planning and Development board will team with OBCR for the two sessions, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the SUNY Oswego Education Center in Phoenix, in the Oswego County Industrial Park off I-481 at the Rt. 264 exit.

“Home Performance Contracting: Get an Edge on the Competition” looks to help contractors reduce energy use, improve efficiency and adopt renewable technologies in the residential sector. Sam Gordon, senior planner for the RPDB and a NYSERDA Energy Smart Communities coordinator, will make the 9 to 10 a.m. presentation.

“Smart Development: 21st Century Buildings and NYS Incentives” will help educate developers and builders about energy efficiency measures and resources available for commercial and industrial customers in Central New York. Brian Pincelli, an RPDB planner and Energy Smart Communities coordinator, will offer the 10 to 10:50 a.m. session.

The program will conclude with a question-and-answer period, followed by one-on-one consulting with the presenters.

To register, contact the OBCR at 312-3492 or e-mail Space will be limited, so the office recommends early registration.
