Oswego hosts, helps Chinese university

group photoA delegation of administrators from Zhejiang Gongshang University in Hangzhou, China, visited SUNY Oswego in early October to learn about American best practices in higher education administration.

The visitors heard from Oswego administrators on recruiting students and faculty, diversity, student affairs, alumni relations and the SUNY system. After a morning of presentations in Sheldon Hall, Zhejiang’s Vice President Yuewen Liao, seated left, and Oswego’s Vice President for Academic Affairs Susan Coultrap-McQuin posed with administrators from the two campuses. Oswego’s Xiaoqin Irminger and Zhejiang’s Fagong Liu served as translators.

Zhejiang’s delegation is visiting a half dozen colleges in the United States and Canada with which the university has exchange agreements. More than 21,000 students study business and technology at the public university south of Shanghai in eastern China.
