General Facts

The Instructional Media Collection (IMC) is a closed DVD collection housed behind the 2nd Floor Service Desk of Penfield Library. This shared interdisciplinary collection is intended primarily for in-class use by faculty.

Find policies on how long faculty members may borrow Instructional Media Collection items.

Scheduling a Video

Faculty may schedule a video for classroom use by either filling out the Schedule a Video for Classroom Use Form or by calling the 2nd Floor Service Desk at 315-312-3560. Return pickups may be scheduled on this form. Because many videos are used in class by several instructors, we strongly encourage scheduling the video as far in advance as possible to avoid time conflicts.

Scheduled videos may be picked up at the Check-Out & Reserves Desk on the first floor of the library, or the 2nd Floor Service Desk staff can deliver videos to your department (2 business days required).

If you want a student to pick up a video for you, you must fill out a Faculty Assistant Authorization Form.

Questions about the IMC's scheduling service should be directed to staff at the 2nd Floor Service Desk. Email media@oswego.edu or call 315-312-3560.

IMC Material on Reserve

Faculty may request that IMC material be put on reserve for a semester. Faculty who want to use reserve material may only borrow it for 3 hours. IMC material on reserve cannot be delivered.

Student Use

Students may borrow IMC materials for the full reserve period assigned to those materials. For IMC materials not on reserve, see the appropriate borrowing policies page for more information.
