In conjunction with other SUNY campuses, Penfield Library is transitioning this summer to a new main search box using a service called Primo. This will replace the search on the library homepage, providing a single location through which you can access all of the library's books and ebooks, and the majority of our databases and videos. It is similar to the search engine we already have on our website...only better!

What does this mean for you? Well, there won't be much of a difference in the way you conduct your library searches. Where you'll notice the changes is in the details. Primo has better search results screens with some different content, cleaner and more intuitive interfaces, and more accurate search results ranking.  It will also be easier for you to tell what items you have checked out on your card, and when they are due/overdue.

We will be holding a breakout training session in mid- to late-May for those who are interested, with more details on how Primo works. In the meantime, just know that we're looking out for you. We're constantly working on ways to make it easier and more efficient for you to use the library. While there may be some small adjustments as you get used to Primo (keep an eye out for broken links, for example) we think you're going to love the improvements.

If you have questions, please contact Lynne Rhys (lynne.rhys@oswego.edu).  Otherwise, stay tuned!
