An online publication of SUNY Oswego's Institute for Global Engagement that explores a variety of topics in a condensed and intellectually provocative manner. The website also provides a forum for scholars and students to interact and discuss topics.

Submissions:

Length: 1000 words maximum

Examples of possible formats:

  • a travelogue essay documenting a visit to one site
  • an expanded article abstract summarizing a larger research project or presentation
  • a mini ethnography
  • a news article
  • a discussion of a current event
  • a review of an academic or travel abroad program

Style:

  • one topic, international in scope
  • open argument: asking interesting questions, but not necessarily providing all the answers
  • personal voice
  • no reference list: all citations must be in-text hyperlinks
  • at least one multimedia piece (image, audio, video, etc.) must be included
  • emphasis is on introducing a topic, providing the author's perspective, and linking to other resources

Submission format: Word or RTF document with active hyperlinks. Media can be attached to the submission email (do not embed in document, as it may reduce quality), or links can be provided.

Selection process: editorial board review.

Submission due date: rolling deadline.
