Health Promotion and Wellness

The Health Promotion and Wellness Department offers a unique multidisciplinary major within the School of Education, leading to the baccalaureate of science degree in wellness management. The program is designed to prepare students to assume roles as wellness/health promotion and fitness professionals in private business and industry, community organizations, and health care agencies.

This degree will provide students the opportunity to select a program that focuses on wellness, worksite health promotion and managing such programs. Students graduate with a foundation in health science/wellness, fitness, management and human behavior as well as skills in needs assessment, program planning and implementation, and program evaluation. 

A graduate of this program may obtain an entry-level position as a health promotion and/or fitness specialist/manager in a healthcare organization, corporate setting, or public agency. Students may also continue with graduate work in health promotion, business administration, nutrition, physical therapy, allied health, and exercise science.

The department also offers a 15-credit graduate certificate in health and wellness

The department also offers minors in athletic coachingnutrition and health science.
