New York Women in Communications Scholarship Program: Awarded to graduate students who intend to pursue or further a career in communications.
Masters-in-Education Teacher Incentive Scholarship Program: Awards eligible candidates full tuition benefit toward graduate degree in elementary or secondary education.
TEACH Grant Program: Awarded students in exchange for a completion of a service obligation teaching in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.

Graduate Student Conference Support

Graduate students enrolled in a graduate degree or certificate program at SUNY Oswego may apply for a maximum award of $250 toward registration costs once during their attendance at SUNY Oswego. Upon completion of the conference, the student must be prepared to share impressions of the experience at a colloquium such as QUEST. The Graduate Studies office will suggest options for completing this final activity. Requests for funding must include a completed application, a brief (200 words or less) description of the importance of the conference to your professional plans, the total amount of the registration fee, and support from a graduate faculty member. In addition, you should attach a copy or screenshot of the conference information, including location and date.

GSEU Professional Development Awards Program

The Professional Development Program is funded under Article 30 Professional Development Committee of the 2016-2019 Agreement negotiated between New York State and the Communications Workers of America, Local 1104 / Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU). Funds are awarded for a variety of professional development projects or activities to assist eligible teaching assistants and graduate assistants develop their full professional potential or prepare for advancement.

Diversity Graduate Fellowship Program

The Diversity Graduate Fellowship Program supports full-time graduate students (U.S. citizens only) who will be a part of the diverse student body at SUNY Oswego. The program especially seeks to support those who can demonstrate they have overcome a disadvantage or other impediment to succeed in higher education.

Festa Graduate Leadership Fellowship

The Festa Graduate Leadership Fellowship seeks accomplished and motivated individuals who are eager to prepare for greater leadership responsibilities within their communities and professions. Applicants will propose self-designed learning experiences to help attain leadership goals that have been set. The program will expand the student’s experiences to new learning environments that would be inaccessible without the fellowship.

Federal Student Loans

If you are a matriculated student taking 6 credit hours or more or taking credit toward NYS certification in education and you are a US citizen, legal permanent resident or an eligible non-citizen, you can apply for unsubsidized loans. To apply, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Grants

You will find that grants for graduate students are more likely to originate with organizations that are looking for students in a particular area of study. We've called out a view grants useful to graduate students.

Faculty-student Challenge Grants

Up to $4,500. See the guidelines for deadline. Grants are for student-faculty collaboration projects to be completed during the summer following the award of the grant and/or during the following academic year.

Student Scholarly and Creative Activity Grants

up to $1,000. Applications are due the first Monday in November. Grants are for student research projects working under the guidance of faculty sponsors. Funding is subject to availability.

RISE conference travel grant

The RISE Office, supported by the Provost, provides support for student travel to make presentations at conferences, exhibits or performances. Preference will be given to students who are presenting their own work.

Deans' Writing Awards

Early in the spring semester, all departments and degree-granting programs on campus select the most outstanding written work submitted by their students during the preceding calendar year in order to present a Dean’s Writing Award in each major. Winning authors receive their awards along with certificates at a Quest Day ceremony, and winning pieces are both displayed in Penfield Library on Quest Day and archived on the Writing Across the Curriculum website.
