What you will study

The Counseling Services program builds upon a core of psychological and educational foundations as well as specialization areas including counseling theory, group process, appraisal, vocational development and decision-making. Students completing the degree program are equipped to assume a variety of roles in the counseling profession.

Learning outcomes

As a graduate of this program, you will be eligible for provisional certification as a School Counselor in New York State. SUNY Oswego’s program offers a post-master’s advanced certificate track for professionals who have already earned a master’s degree but are interested in entering the counseling services field. Students in the master’s program can earn the certificate at the same time as their master’s, increasing employability upon graduation.
