Welcome to SUNY Oswego's International Language & Education Center (ILEC).   Housed in the Division of Extended Learning, ILEC offers several programs that help speakers of other languages to increase their English proficiency. Summer Intensive English Program students

INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM (IEP)

Learn English and gain an authentic United States university experience at SUNY Oswego’s beautiful lakeside campus in upstate New York. Our year-round Intensive English Program offers language instruction, cultural orientation and pre-academic training to international students.

SUMMER INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM (SIEP)

College students may attend our Summer Intensive English Program (SIEP) and earn up to 6 hours of transcripted credit.  Improve your English skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar through classroom instruction and conversation hour and learn about American culture.

ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES (EAP)

Our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program will help you improve your academic English while taking undergraduate or graduate courses.  EAP courses earn transcripted credit toward your degree program.

GENIUS OLYMPIAD ESL (GO ESL) 

High school students may participate in our non-credit Genius Olympiad ESL (GO ESL) Program.  

  •  Campus Resources for International Students, our brochure provides a wealth of helpful information about on campus services available to support international student success. Please feel free to  browse or  print the brochure.
  • English Conversation Hour is a great opportunity for international students, scholars and their spouses/partners who wish to gain further experience speaking English as a foreign language. 2017 Fall semester "Conversation Hour" will be held every week on Thursdays from Sept. 7th through Dec. 14th with the exception of holidays (Sept. 21th and Nov. 23th) . Please send an email to ebru.altay@oswego.edu if you have any questions.
