CSS 360/ENG 360-A focused study of literature, film, visual art and music of the Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya) and adjacent West Africa (Mauritania, Senegal, Mali) from the post-independence era (c. 1960) to the present.  The class meets Wednesday afternoon, followed by a dinner break, then resumes in the evening for film screenings and other performances.  Students will have the option to write traditional academic essays or construct creative alternatives.  No final exam.

ENG 286 INTRO TO CINEMA & SCREEN STUDIES-An introduction to the history and theory of cinema for first-year majors only.  Three take-home exams and two or three group film projects required.
