Take Back the Night

This evening there will be an annual event that has taken place at SUNY Oswego for many decades: the Take Back the Night rally and march, sponsored by the student Women's Center.

I invite you to be part of this empowering, community-building event! It is yet another demonstration of how our SUNY Oswego community rises to a challenge and supports one another as we build a culture of respect and shared responsibility.

Take Back the Night is an international movement that aims to create safe communities and respectful relationships. Our college community observes it each fall.

This evening's events will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center activity court. After the march around campus, participants will gather in Room 201 of Marano for refreshments and a Speakout where victims of sexual violence can tell their stories and all can listen. While I am out of state on college business this week, the vice presidents and deans will attend the events this evening, and my chief of staff will read my remarks.
