Required courses and field experiences in the master of science in teaching (MST) childhood education 1-6 initial certification program are designed for candidates with a baccalaureate degree and the equivalent of a major in liberal arts and sciences. Completion of this degree -- along with passing scores on the New York State Teacher's Exams, the required teaching experience, and fulfillment of all other NYSED requirements (see www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/) -- will qualify a candidate to receive a New York State initial and professional teaching certificate in childhood education grades 1-6. The childhood program is taught at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center and Syracuse City Schools are partners in this Clinically Rich Program.
Program requirements are officially described in the current SUNY Oswego Graduate Catalog, which can be obtained by contacting the Graduate Studies Office (315.312.3152, 601 Culkin Hall, SUNY Oswego, Oswego, NY 13126).
