SUNY Cortland SUNY Cortland, a medium-sized institution located in the geographic center of New York state, prides itself on being one of the regions’s top public comprehensive colleges and the total package for those seeking a well-rounded experience. Cortland is home to approximately 6,900 students — more than 500 of them graduate students.

For 150 years, students have chosen to attend Cortland because the institution offers an excellent education at an affordable cost. Graduates have gone on to make a difference in education, business, government, fitness, medicine and many other fields. At the same time, the College has transformed in recent years, with emerging academic programs, a more diverse student population and $300 million in campus construction. Recent accolades also have scored the College high for exceptional value when it comes to career success.

At Cortland, graduate students are driven by this career-focused vision across nearly 40 programs — seeing themselves excelling as sports and recreation professionals, future school district leaders, speech-language pathologists, and in countless other professions. They’re taught to solve practical problems by engaged professors, the types of teachers who are more likely to collaborate side-by-side than lecture from the front of a classroom.

The SUNY Cortland graduate experience proves unique through several other important qualities — a convenient location and an affordable value among them. Whether they study full or part time, whether they commute or live near campus, SUNY Cortland graduate students are trained for success.
