Welcome to the Advisement Center! We help students transition from high school and other institutions to the SUNY Oswego community.

Even before you start your first semester we are by your side providing academic advising and introducing you to campus-wide resources, services, and experiences that will help you thrive academically and socially.

Drop-In Advisement

Drop-in hours are held Monday through Friday 9am to 3pm. Come get your advisement questions answered during these times. No appointment necessary. 

After-Hours Advising

After-hours advising will be on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30pm and Wednesdays 4:30 to 6:00pm by appointment only. Students can sign up for an appointment here. Both in-person and virtual meeting options are available.

Advisors can help with:

  • Discuss major and career options
  • Assist with course selection and academic planning 
  • Interpret college policies, procedures, and requirements
  • Help you stay on track to graduate
  • Provide strategies for time management and studying
  • Connect you to learning services and extra-curricular activities

Advisement Process

All students are assigned Academic Success Advisors who are specially trained to assist students with the transition to SUNY Oswego, and provide you with the right information to help you reach your academic goals leading to graduation. As you progress at Oswego you'll be assigned a department faculty advisor who will work with you for the rest of your college career.

Workshops

The advisement center offers academic support through a variety of success workshops. Each semester we offer a range of student success topics including; effective study habits, time management, adopting a growth mindset, and communicating with professors.
