The Start Now program is a unique partnership between SUNY Oswego, Jefferson Community College (JCC) and Onondaga Community College (OCC) and is primarily intended for students from the metro-NYC area.

Start Now will allow you to begin your college career at JCC or OCC and live in a campus residence hall there. When you are ready, you can apply to transfer to SUNY Oswego as early as your sophomore year to earn your bachelor's degree — Start Now is designed to enable you to earn two degrees: your associate's and your bachelor's degree!

The Start Now Advantage

Both Jefferson Community College and Onondaga Community College have a long-standing tradition of working with SUNY Oswego to help students reach their goals. In fact, JCC and OCC are two of Oswego's leading transfer institutions.

Students are guaranteed that credits earned at JCC or OCC will transfer to SUNY Oswego as part of the SUNY Student Mobility Initiative. Furthermore, Start Now participants save thousands of dollars by attending JCC or OCC.

"Start Now helped me meet other students on campus and was a platform for me to get the full college experience without diving head first into a four-year. I would describe the Start Now program as your backbone: it’s supportive and sometimes gives you the pressure you need."

Dedicated Staff and Special Trips to SUNY Oswego — Just for You

Start Now students receive personalized advisement and support from SUNY Oswego’s Office of Admissions. They also have the opportunity to visit SUNY Oswego’s campus once a semester, before they transfer. These trips enable Start Now students to familiarize themselves with SUNY Oswego before transferring there. Organized trips are always no cost to Start Now students and include transportation to and from Oswego and JCC or OCC.
