Dr. Avram Noam Chomsky was born December 7th, 1928.  He is an Institute 
Professor of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and 
the creator of the Chomsky hierarchy.

His works in generative linguistics contributed significantly to the decline of behaviorism and led
to the advancement of the cognitive sciences.  Chomsky describes himself
as a libertarian socialist.
