Responsibilities:

• Coordination of the day to day operations of the Instructional Computing Center.
• Project assignment, training, and scheduling of the staff of the Instructional Computing Center.
• Assists in the processes of evaluation, and selection of the Center's staff.
• The staff of the center consists of: Student Operators - 49, Senior Operators - 5, and Permanent Staff - 5.
• Assume the responsibilities of the Director in his absence.
• Specification of the hardware and software to be purchased in support of the academic mission of the college.
• Supervision of the installation and maintenance of hardware and software for the Center:
• 35 Sun systems
• 1 VAX/VMS server
• 1 Windows NT server (Terminal Server Edition)
• 5 Macintosh servers
• 5 Sun Servers used as Windows file and print servers.
• over 200 Macintoshes and PC's

Responsibilities:

• The installation of hardware, software and networks to support the academic mission of the college.
• Maintenance of existing hardware, software and networks through out the Oswego campus.
• Design and development of software and networks to support the current and future needs of the academic portion of the college.
• Training and partial supervision of the student operators, and the senior student programmers employed by the Instructional Computing Center.

• Initial implementation, and ongoing maintenance of: A Campus Wide Information System based on WWW, A Campus Wide Information System based on gopher, and a Campus Phone Book based on a CSO name server(starting in the summer of 1993.)
• Design, development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of suite of programs that automatically generate computer accounts for all individuals officially associated with SUNY Oswego. This suite of programs also automatically tracks each individual's association with SUNY Oswego, and after their association has terminated and a specific grace period has expired, it automatically backs up, and removes the expired accounts. This suite of programs has allowed the Instructional Computer Center to offer long term accounts to all of the campus members in a much more timely manner than was possible in the past. This suite of programs also saves the Instructional Computer Center approximately 300 person hours of labor each semester (1993.)
• Development, testing, debugging and installation of 2.10 BSD and 2.11 BSD, including but not limited to porting of DHU/V terminal driver. Debugging and maintenance of xp (rm03) disk driver, ht (tape) driver, dh/dm terminal driver with modem support, and rl (rl01/rl02) disk driver. Porting and debugging of the DEQNA driver to 2.10 BSD. Development work to port 4.3 BSD level networking into 2.10A BSD, as well as work in testing and debugging the relocation of networking code from kernel space to supervisor space on 2.10 BSD. Development, debugging and porting of various applications programs to 2.10 and 2.11 BSD (1986-1992.)
• Design, development, testing and installation of custom device drivers to support specialized hardware. This custom development was done for the research division of AT&T Bell Labs, and was designed and implemented on and for PDP 11's running the version of 2.9BSD Unix which was developed at Oswego. As a result of this development effort AT&T Bell Labs made a substantial donation of equipment to the Instructional Computer Center at SUNY Oswego (1987).
• Custom modifications to 2.9 CSS/Harvard Unix (modification of Berkeley 2.9) for support of 4.2 level networking, mscp drives, DEQNA (Ethernet controller), 22 bit Q-Bus support (PDP 11/73s). DHU/V terminal controller, and auto-boot for a RM03 (1986).
• Custom modifications of 4.2 BSD to provide support for an Emulex 7002 controller with a Fujitsu M2351 drive (1985.)
• Development and implementation of a quota system for printing resources under 4.2 BSD (1985.)

• Social Storm, Inc. is an organization that was formed to help deal with the problems of homelessness and hunger in Oswego County.
• Active member in Social Storm, Inc. from June 1991, through January 1993.
• Served as member of the executive committee of the board of directors from January 1992 through January 1993.

• Worked with the United Way of Oswego County on several data conversion and office automation projects,1989 - 1992.
