Weather
Observation Notebook: Every day (including vacations) describe the
weather and how it affected you (like you were describing it to someone in a
letter):
1. Colder or warmer than normal
2. Precipitation ‑‑ what
kind ‑‑ how much ‑‑ when
3. Cloud cover ‑‑ what
type ‑‑ amount ‑‑ change during day
4. Wind direction ‑‑ note
the direction of smoke or clouds (shoreline
is SW to NE)
5. Any other comments of interest like
road conditions, damage due to weather, severe
weather elsewhere
6.
How weather affected you and others around you (e.g. change in plans or
mood)
Weekly reread what you have written and
summarize the weather.
At
the end of the semester,
summarize and comment on any correlations you see in your data (e.g. wind
direction and cloud type during snow).
The
purpose of this notebook is to get you to observe the weather. If you are
not in Oswego, say where you are and describe the weather there ‑‑
is it different than you would expect in Oswego? Progress on the notebooks
will be checked during the first exam. Notebooks will be due Tuesday November
29, 2011. If notebook is late, you must
continue entries up to day before it is turned in.
