Hello all,
Once again, I send several files. Included are:
Dzenza: my description of this year's education training;
strike: trying to stay occupied during my school's strike;
folklore: some folklore that I have collected;
origins: some etymologies of town names in Malawi.
For those of you who want to pass on these messages to others, publish them in newsletters, use them to teach your classes, feel free. I enjoy getting the quick messages telling me what you are doing though. And if you use the letters for class, please tell me how you used them and how the students responded, for my own curiosity. Please be culturally sensitive though, especially if I say anything very negative about Malawi. (Technically, if the wrong person reads my writings, I could get in trouble with Peace Corps, which doesn't stop me from writing...) I will just keep trying to realize the Peace Corps' third goal, teaching the USA about my host country, without downtalking it. Trivia: Under First President Hastings Kamuzu Banda, the Peace Corps was kicked out of Malawi because of some of the things Paul Thoreux wrote and published about it.

Since we have been on several adventures together, I am in some of her letters. Most notable is the description of Nyika Park from last Christmas, probably the craziest adventure I have had in Malawi yet.
