Just Table It!

Take a look at the table below. Answer the following 2 questions:

1. To the nearest 0.1%, what is Gateway 2000s market share?
2. Out of the following 3 companies, Apple, Packard Bell and Compaq, which had the smallest market share?

My guess is that using the pie chart and the bar chart you did not get exactly the right answer to #1 and you basically had to guess on #2. Of course this table makes it perfectly clear.

Since the answers are so evident from this display -- and the values are very accurate -- and since this table takes up less room than do the pictures (pie and bar charts), we have to agree that this table is better than both pictures. In other words: sometimes a picture is not worth so many words.
