Who is Samantha? Well, for starters, I am! I am an amateur photographer and blogger who lives in upstate NY. I created this website so that visitors to my blogs or my flickr photostream could find out more about me. This is a place where I showcase various web and graphic projects I have been or am currently involved in. Web and graphic design is my hobby; when I'm not doing that I'm working hard to finish my undergraduate degree and become a high school French and Spanish teacher!
The French Corner - First developed in 2003, The French Corner started out as a small site created with the purpose of teaching basic French to students of all ages and levels. I kept expanding the site and adding features to it over the next couple of years, and in 2007 I made it into a blog. I still kept all of the features the old site had, but now I post new items of interest relating to French language, culture, or current events. Of my 3 blogs, The French Corner has the most subscribers and daily visitors. I am always looking for guest posts so if you have something you would like to contribute to the blog, feel free to submit it to me through the website.
The Sassy Shutterbug is a blog I started in 2009 for female photographers. Photography is a male-dominated pastime, and I often feel the gear made photographers is designed with men in mind. Posts on this blog range from random musings to tutorials to general tips, not all of which are concerned with women. I am always looking for guest posts so if you have something you would like to contribute to the blog, feel free to submit it to me through the website.
The Spanish Zone - I just launched the Spanish Zone in July 2008. It is designed very similarly to the French Corner and it serves the same purpose, except for Spanish language learners and enthusiasts. Right now there is still so much I plan to add to the blog. I would love your feedback so please go and visit and comment! I am always looking for guest posts so if you have something you would like to contribute to the blog, feel free to submit it to me through the website.
Style by Samantha - This is a blog I no longer update, but I have kept it live since I really like the design. I started this blog in 2007 as my first foray into the blogosphere. At the time, I was unaware of the abundance of fashion blogs out there! Style by Samantha offers advice on where to buy classy clothes, alerts readers to sales at high-end online retailers, and interviews up-and-coming designers or men and women in the fashion industry about their businesses or brands. A special feature on the blog is a wardrobe guide to dressing like other stylish Samanthas in pop culture.
Other Media I Have Designed
>SUNY Oswego French Program - I am a French major at SUNY Oswego and I designed the program's logo this year with the guidance of a professor. I also worked on the program's website. Click the logo to view full size and click the link to visit the website.
Oswego State College Republicans Blog - I used to be the secretary of this organization and I designed our club blog where any member was welcome to post. The blog entries usually consisted of minutes from the meetings.
Soyez Motivés Brochure - I designed this brochure as part of a final project for a class, but I also posted it on The French Corner blog. When printed, it is a 3-page pamphlet showing young students all the ways they can have fun learning to read, write, listen, and speak in French.
Flyer for Circle K - I was the secretary of this club a couple years ago and I made this flyer using the organization's international insignia and combining it with an Oswego sunset and photos of current and past members.
