The American alternative rock-and-roll magazine, Ray Gun was first published in 1992. Led by founding art director David Carson, Ray Gun explored experimental typographic design. The result was a distinctive chaotic, not always readable, abstract style.
David Carson is an American graphic designer who is best known for his innovative magazine design, and use of experimental typography. He was the art director for the magazine Ray Gun. Carson was perhaps the most influential graphic designer of the nineties. In particular, his widely imitated style defined the so-called "grunge" era.
