Syracuse Student Teacher's Comments

Jamie Schulz reading to her
Kindergarten Class at
Danforth Elementary School

Jamie Schulz: "Before this experience, I had never given a second thought to urban schools.  I just assumed that I would never teach in one, and so I was not interested in the matter.  When I first received the news of this placement, I was terrified... By the end of the first week, however, this feeling had long been forgotten.  I fell in love with my school and its surroundings... the faculty, the staff, and especially the students.  ... It was like nothing I had ever experienced before.  I can't begin to describe how much I learned about teaching, and myself as a teacher."
