STUDYING AND STUDY GROUPS

It is important that you study regularly and frequently. Take notes on key points and processes discussed in readings. Review and annotate your lecture notes after each class. If you do not understand something, ask questions in class or after class or make an appointment to see me during office hours.

Do not fall behind!

STUDY GROUPS

I recommend that you create a study group to review lecture notes, prepare for exams and conduct peer reviews. Small study groups will help you to improve your performance no matter what your native ability is. Even students who understand the material well can reinforce and deepen their understanding by explaining and teaching concepts and techniques to others.

REVIEW SESSIONS

I will schedule optional review sessions in consultation with your class.

STUDYING TIPS

To enhance your performance and increase your learning, the following are recommended:

Vocabulary List--Keep an ongoing vocabulary list of new terms. Use the back notebook and work forward or enter terms and definitions onto word processor. The more senses you involve in learning, the more you will retain.

Chapter Outlines--If you construct chapter outlines of important concepts and terms of each chapter as you read them and study for exams, these make great study aids, especially at the time of final exams.

Read Chapter Before Class--As above--it really helps.

Start Studying Early--Learn to budget your time so that you can accomplish the learning and performance objectives you have set for yourself.
