Biology 355X/555X:  Conservations Biology and Field natural History of Costa Rica, 3 semester hours 
 
An interdisciplinary field natural history course focused on ecological and environmental issues associated with Costa Rica.  This course is offered through the Office of International Education, and involves about two weeks of travel and field experiences at varied habitats within Costa Rica.  Much of the Course materials will be availabl in Spanish as well as English.  Special topics will include the ecology and diversity of life in Costa Rican tropical rain forest ecosystems and associated human impacts on these ecosystems. 

All students will enroll in courses at the sponsoring college.  Tuition will be paid directly to the college. 
 
Faculty

Dr. Peter A. Rosenbaum is an associate Professor of Biology at SUNY-Oswego where he teaches genetics, evolution, embryology, zoo biology, and field herpetology.  Born in New York City, he earned his BS, MS (animal behavior), and Ph.D. (human genetics) from Tulane University in New Orleans.  His current research interests includegenetics, conservation biology of reptiles and amphibians (especially turtles) and environmental toxicology.  Dr. Rosenbaum has traveled and conducted field research in various parts of U.S., Mexico, and Central America, is a consultant to zoos, and conservation agencies, studied in Mexico, and has been a trip leadder for northeast summer camps.
