:: IMAGE OPTIMIZATION ::
Image Optimization seems to be an extremely useful thing to know. It is a great way to save space and I learned more about file formats in general. By saving something a JPG High, the image is excellent. It is extremely clear and very defined. When I bumped the image down to JPG Medium, the definition and clarity, for the most part, remained completely intact. Also, by dropping it down to medium, 6 K of space was saved. When I dropped it down to JPG Low, the quality of the image did suffer a bit, but for a background image, or an image that wouldn't be such a focal point on the website, I feel like a setting of JPG Low would work well. Saving it as a GIF 32 did not work out well. GIFs are clearly not meant for imagery. Not to mention, the space taken up increased significantly. So for imagery, GIFs would not be the way to go. PNGs are very similiar to GIFs. GIFs are good to use for hard edged items and text, while JPGs are good to use for imagery. |
