

Professor Mian served as Chair for the Institute for Operations Research and
Management Sciences (INFORMS) Technology Management Section from 2002 through
2004, and as Executive Committee Member and Newsletter Editor of the Academy
of Management Technology and Innovation Management Division from 2000 through
2005.
Professor Mian has published numerous articles in professional journals including: Journal of Business Venturing, Research Policy, Journal of High Technology Management Research, Technovation, and Project Management Journal. He regularly reviews for IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, JBV, JSBM, Research Policy, Knowledge, Technology & Policy journal; and Academy of Management, ICSB, PICMET conferences. He is the author of several book chapters and a recently published book, Building Knowledge Regions in North America: Emerging Technology Innovation Poles, Edward Elgar Publishing, MA (2006).
Dr. Mian has been a speaker on the subject of new venture creation and related entrepreneurship policy aspects, making over 60 national and international conference and invited presentations over the past 10 years. He has also been involved in several consulting projects for industry as well as government including: IBM; Policy Research Center of the Coalition of North East Governors, Washington, DC; U.S. Department of Agriculture; U.S. Department of Energy; Morbin Oil Corp; New York State (Oswego County); the World Bank; the Organization for Economic Cooperation for Development (OECD), Paris; National Science & Technology Council (CONACYT), Mexico; Software Export Board, Pakistan; Toronto Sun Corporation and Ottawa-Carleton Research Institute, Canada.

A. Mian
is Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at the School of
Business, State University of New York at Oswego, N.Y. Professor Mian has
taught at the University of Maryland, George Washington University, the University
of Osnabrueck in Germany, as well as lectured at Lahore University of Management
Sciences, in Pakistan.
Dr. Mian earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Punjab University,
his Master's in Management Sciences from Northwestern University, an M.B.A.
and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from George Washington University.
