An intermediate course that expands the basic concepts acquired in Drawing I. Emphasis is placed on the observation and explanation of three-dimensional reality and its translation onto the two-dimensional surface. A development of the drawing process will be accomplished through analysis and interpretation of diverse subject matter, through investigation of varied media, and through a search for personal expressiveness. Three [3] semester hours. Prerequisites: ART 210 (Drawing I).
Course Objectives
Demonstrate ability in the use of basic concepts to accomplish drawings that acknowledge three-dimensional understanding of the space on a two-dimensional surface.
Review of the elements and principles of design, composition, and value.
Experiment with diverse drawing media as modes to develop self-expression and conceptual investigation.
Utilize appropriate vocabulary in the analysis and criticism of drawings produced in the studio.
Survey contemporary and historical drawings through slide presentations and/or in house gallery visits to determine the relationship of these models to studio assignments.
