An introductory studio course in basic concepts, focusing on the translation of the three dimensional world to the two dimensional surface. An emphasis will be given to observational analysis, form description and spatial construction. Experiences with a variety of subject matter and media will be explored. Three [3] semester hours.
Course Objectives
Create drawings by means of visual observation that achieve the illusion ot three dimensional form description and space on a two dimensional surface.
Arrange and make use of the elements and principles of design through varied project requirements.
Identify and utilize appropriate vocabulary, concepts and media in pursuit of project goals.
Examine and criticize drawings generated in the studio in regard to specific project objectives.
Survey contemporary and historical drawings through slide presentations and/or in house gallery visits to determine the relationship of these models to studio assignments.
